What to Wear- A Guy's Guide - Parker Senior Photographer

Chances are, if you're reading this, you're a mom of a senior guy 😅. In the rare case that you are the senior himself, keep reading! Either way, these tips will be helpful for you both. Don’t worry, this is a quick and easy read!

Tip #1 : No logos or writing on your clothing

There is an exception : team athletic gear. The writing/logo/picture can take away from seeing you. It could feel more like a clothing ad than the person you are. IF you are adamant on bringing the top with these things, make sure you bring a spare shirt so you have options.

Tip #2: No plain black t-shirts.

I know!! Black is a flattering color on everyone, but hear me out. While black is a safe color, you can find other safe colors that are flattering, easy to layer, and bring a pop of color to your portraits. Plus, this is a special time! Try something that is similar to your style but with a little change up! In the summer time, light, bold colors are great like pink, lighter blues, a sand brown. In the fall, choose colors that make you think of changing leaves like maroon and deep greens. If all else fails, navy is a winning color! However, if you choose to wear a plain black t- layer it with something! A necklace, an undershirt, a jacket will give your senior pictures personality.

Tip #3 : Your shoes matter.

Don't you dare try to show up in your worn out shoes! I hear you, they're comfy, they're you, etc. etc. BUT shoes are always the thing that your eyes end up going to first. And if you hate the way it looks, you'll hate the entire picture, regardless of how great you look! (Plus, you wont hear the end of it from mom, so really, I'm saving you. )  Bring your daily shoes, but also be prepared with another pair of awesome, clean, fresh kicks 😎 . Trust me!

Bonus Tip: break the rules

Don’t I just sound ridiculous! Sometimes rules are made to be broken. If you choose to break them, make sure you do it well!

3 Questions To Ask Your Senior Photographer | Parker Senior Photographer

It is the summer before senior year and you suddenly realize your senior year officially begins in about a month! What do you need to do to get ready for the last year of your high school career? Well to start off, you HAVE to find the perfect photographer for your yearbook and senior pictures! Here are 3 questions to help you uncover if that photographer is right for you…

Question 1: What do I do with my hands?

Ha! I’m kidding, but you should ask your photographer how they pose their seniors. Most of us feel downright awkward and weird in front of a camera, especially when taking a picture alone. Those of you that can werk it and feel good, we all envy you! For the rest of us, that is what your photographer is for! Do they have high posing where they move you, you stand still, and they capture the moment? Do they instruct you what to do in a more natural setting? Do they expect you to pose yourself?

Question 2: How much camera time will your session get?

This will all be dependent on your needs. Are you looking for someone to guide you throughout the session, have 2 or more bomb looks, and don’t want to feel rushed? Or are you looking for something so quick, have 1 outfit, and can pose yourself? Of course, there are the in-betweens, but your photographer will help you decide the right amount of camera time through asking you questions. Most importantly, your senior photographer will be uncovering (or helping you discover) what kind of experience you are looking for. This leads us to the question you want to ask your photographer…

Most Important: What experience will I get from my session?

It is your senior year! Your senior pictures will be what kicks off this incredible, memory filled year, so you should hear what your photographer will provide. When you ask this question, they will tell you what everything will look like, from beginning to end! This will answer questions like timeline for pictures, locations, outfits, support they provide you, and when you get to see the final product!

I am a Senior, but what is a spokesmodel?

Hey! This is your year! You will be walking across that stage at the end of the year. Why not start it with a BANG! Jane Kelly Photography Spokesmodel Team is made up of Class of 2023 Douglas County and Denver Mountain Range seniors and represent JKP through their senior year of high school! This year, the number of spokesmodels accepted will be between 3-6 Class of 2023 spokesmodels. You can be attending Chaparral High School, Douglas County High School, Castle View High School, or any high school within or surround Douglas County and Denver!

How do I become a JKP Senior Spokesmodel?

If you are a current high school student, graduating with the Class of 2023, and you are looking for a photographer to take your senior pictures, you may be a good fit! If you will post images from our sessions on your social media accounts like Instagram or share through the stories like on Snapchat or TikTok, you are a really good fit! If you are looking to be a part of optional group sessions, join in on fun, exclusive events for the team, and are willing to have fun, you are the perfect fit! Start filling out the form here!

What do we do?

As a JKP Senior Spokesmodel, you will have your senior session. In addition to that, you can join in on the optional group sessions! There will be 2 group sessions, one before December and the other in the Spring of 2023! Spokesmodels will also have the opportunity to build friendships through these group shoots, through a volunteer opportunity together (looks really good on an application), and have fun in team building events like Top Golf or an Escape Room! This are all optional, but they are so much fun! We will do our best to coordinate with everyone’s schedule.

How much is it?

Being a JKP Senior Spokesmodel does not cost anything extra. You pay for the cost of a senior session with me and fill out the form! A Senior Session with Jane Kelly Photography already comes with lots of perks, like having me as your photographer! I promise that we will have fun, genuinely photograph you, and I am your built-in, personal hype girl. Don’t worry, I also tell you how to pose and what to do with those hands. Do you think you are awkward? I am THE QUEEN of awkward! I have yet to meet a client that has shown “awkward.” A senior session also comes with complimentary hair and makeup set up through me, your grand reveal (one of my favorite things), and gorgeous, tangible memories to end your year! P.s. there is so much more and if you are curious, message me here!

The JKP Team gets all of that and the group shoots with the digital images. Any extra cost would be for things you want to participate in during group events we want to do together like a laser tag day or a movie night!

Parents and Seniors,

By submitting this application, I understand that my application will be reviewed and is not a guaranteed acceptance. I confirm that I will graduate with the class of 2023 and am attending a high school within Douglas County or nearby districts such as Denver Public Schools, Jefferson County schools, or Elizabeth schools. I acknowledge that if I am chosen as a spokesmodel, I will be required to solely promote Jane Kelly Photography during my senior year. I am willing to share and have my images shared from each session with Jane Kelly Photography. I understand that I am required to book a senior session with Jane Kelly Photography and will have my senior session completed before July 15, 2022.

To book a session, regardless of interest to the Spokesmodel team, a pre-consultation is required. This consultation can happen in-person or virtually.
