What makes your business unique?
You can see a hundred different massage therapists and receive a hundred different massages. Every therapist has their own unique style and strengths. I have 15 years of experience as a massage therapist. Really, I have 15 years as a student of the human body. My work in massage therapy has been a continuous education and I am still learning new things every day and it is fascinating!
Our bodies are highly intelligent and complex. There is such an interconnectedness. The body is always trying to maintain a sense of balance and when it senses an imbalance, it adjusts accordingly, to protect and stabilize. What I have found, is that when someone feels pain in a particular area of the body, there's a whole network of other muscles that may be contributing to the area of tension. For example, if you feel pain in the right shoulder, it may be a result of tension in the left hip.
When I am working on a client, I am assessing the body as a whole- visibly looking for structural imbalance, feeling for areas of muscular tension. I am able to recognize specific holding patterns within the body and the way the muscles interact with each other. Not only have my hands become highly attuned to what the muscle tissue should feel like, I have found that there is a certain amount of resistance that when applied to the muscle, it signals the muscle to "let go". I do not need to force the muscles to submit under extreme or deep pressure. Quite often, the most healing occurs when the client is in a relaxed or almost meditative state. It is not uncommon for my clients to tell me that they have drifted off into a dream like state or fallen asleep, and while I am a great conversationalist should you want to talk, I encourage my clients to use their time on the massage table for a mental break as well.
For my clients who are interested in Energy work, I do incorporate Reiki and Energy work into the session, by request. Reiki utilizes universal energy to help facilitate healing in any way that your body needs it. On a cellular level, everything is energy. As a reiki practitioner, I am just helping direct the flow of energy. In the next few months, I will be leading classes for those who would like to learn more about reiki and become practitioners of this beautiful healing modality.

Every body is unique. We are all made of the same material, yet we express ourselves in such different ways. This is something that is so important to keep in mind when it comes to massage. Every single body benefits from a unique set of techniques. "Custom Therapeutic Massage" refers to a blend of different modalities tailored specifically to what your body and mind need. Whether you are suffering from a chronic injury, feeling stress and tension in your neck and shoulders, or simply need to relax, we can create a perfect custom session for you.
Treatments may include techniques such as Swedish, Deep Tissue, Myofascial Release, Trigger Point Therapy, and more. We will discuss your goals and needs at the beginning of each session so that you can get exactly what you are looking for from your treatment. I believes that a massage that successfully combines relaxation and healing offers the most benefit to the client and I work intuitively to help bring the body, mind and spirit into a more relaxed and balanced state.
Why did you open your business?
Steve Jobs said, "You can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backward." I didn't intend for massage therapy to be my career, let alone a calling, but that's what happened. Now, I can't imagine being on any other life path.
When I was young, if someone asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, my immediate response was a doctor. I knew from a very young age that I wanted to help people. When I was in college, working towards that goal, my father died suddenly and unexpectedly. This event was a turning point for me. It made me take a deeper look at our modern medicine system and the role doctors fill. I believe that medicine is important, but in most cases, doctors are able to spend just a few moments with their patient, addressing specific physical symptoms utilizing pharmaceuticals or surgery. I realized I wanted to focus on creating wellness, instead of trying to fix or "put a bandaid" on illness.
I believe that healing is something that happens on many levels- Physical, Mental, Emotional. What I have found, is that massage facilitates this sort of overall well being. I have at least an hour with each of my clients. That time is theirs, to relax, recharge, release the stress of the day, find relief from their physical tension and pain. My intention for every session is to give my clients the experience that they are seeking from their session. It is my hope that when my clients come in for a massage, they leave feeling lighter, more connected to their bodies and more aligned on all levels.
Introduce us to your staff!
Currently, Just myself! I began practicing massage in 2003 after completing a 1000 hour Holistic Health Practitioner Program in San Diego, CA. Over the years, I have received additional training in various forms of bodywork and am a Reiki master. I have practiced massage at one of the top resort spas in Telluride, CO, worked in conjunction with chiropractors and physical therapists and helped to create a successful onsite employee massage program at a hospital. Prior to relocating back to Washington, I owned a massage and wellness practice for several years that specialized in treating clients with chronic pain and injuries and assisted with post-surgery rehabilitation. The last couple of years, I have been practicing massage and helping to manage a Medical Massage Company in Seattle with 4 locations. I am very excited to bring the work that I love to the people in my home community.
When I'm not performing magic in the office, I love spending my time creating memorable moments! I have an amazing 8 year old daughter who is often my partner in crime. I love to explore the local hiking trails, take road trips to see new places off the beaten path, test my culinary skills with fun recipes, have deep conversations with friends and find the extraordinary in the ordinary every day life.
