As we grow up, we move away from our parents. This is a sad reality I refused to see until it actually happened. My husband and I moved states away from both of our parents and we did something forbidden….we had a baby.
How dare we have a baby while living so far away from our new baby’s grandparents! Trust me, they may not have said it, but we could feel the guilt states away.
With that said, I always send pictures of their grandbaby to them. They see him all over Facebook, Instagram, videos sent straight to their phones, we video chat, and every holiday season, I send them this wonderful picture of my family. I mean, our kid is actually looking at the camera with a small resemblance of a smile and we even look like parents that actually have it together.
Well this year, as I flip through the millions of picture of our son trying to decide which one will be framed and sent, I stumble on a treasure of wonderful moments of him and his grandparents together. These moments are filled with nothing but pure bliss and love that exist only between a grandparent and their grandbaby. This, my friends, is what grandparents want. As much as they love seeing pictures of the beautiful family you have made, they cherish their grandparent memories just as much.
Think about it, they have endless albums of their sweet baby (YOU) filling their closets, walls, and storage. But, professional pictures of them and their precious GRANDBABY is a rare thing to be seen. Do them a favor; get them in the picture.
I promise that they’ll cherish that picture for years.
Then you will for the next couple of years.
Then it will be your sweet, grown-up baby’s turn to cherish that same memory.
